Secondary school
Adolescents in Australia today, are experiencing unprecedented levels of stress. There is a marked increase in anxiety and depression among young adults, and the mounting pressure they face across all facets of life is alarming. Adolescence is also a critical age in which emotional patterns are established and often carried into adulthood, so it's essential that we give them the best possible grounding. Practical and proven tools, such as yoga, breathing awareness and mindfulness meditation, are a wonderful gifts to give this special population of future leaders. Recent studies have shown time and time again, a marked difference in the outcomes of youth who practice yoga regularly, compared to other forms of exercise, Yoga participants show increases in emotional regulation, memory function, self esteem and decreased anxiety, not mention the vast physical benefits such as improvements in posture, flexibility and strength.
